Prof. Dr. Alev BULUT (Istanbul University - TÜRKİYE)
Alev Bulut is a Full Professor of Translation and Interpreting Stıdies at Istanbul University, Türkiye. She worked at Gazi University, Hacettepe University and has been working at İstanbul University since 1996. She published articles, essays for academic and literary journals on community interpreting (emergency and disaster interpreting), translating female literary discourse and news translation. She is the author of Çeviride Dil ve Metin (Language and Text in Translation) 2003, Çeviride İdeoloji, İdeolojik Çeviri (Ideology in Translation and Ideological Translation) 2008/ 2018 2nd ed., Tercüme Hatası!? (Translation Mistake!?) 2015/ 2022, 2nd. ed., Türkiye’de Futbol Çevirmenliği (Football Interpreting in Turkey) 2018. She translated fiction (novels, short story compilations from American and English literature); non-fiction (art history, archaeology, tourism) and articles for academic journals. She is a member of Çeviri Derneği (Association of Translation and Interpreting-Türkiye) and ÇEVBİR (Literary Translators’ Society-Turkey); member and trainer of ARÇ Organisation (Emergency and Disaster Interpreting Volunteers) of Çeviri Derneği; member of the national working committee responsible for writing Translators’ Vocational Qualifications for MYK-Ministry of Labour and Social Security.
Prof. Dr. Aymil DOĞAN (Hacettepe University - TÜRKİYE)
Prof. Dr. Aymil Doğan worked at Hacettepe University until her retirement in 2023; however, she carries on with her academic studies and provides training in three universities. She received MAS degree from Geneva University-ETI, on Training of Conference Interpreting Trainers; and another training from London DPSI Programme- Law option. She started conference interpreting in 1990. She enabled her students to practise in blind booths, or in her booth accompanying her, assignining tasks at their own level; in addition in intramural conferences she availed them of the opportunity to interpret while she herself was accompanying. She has attended the studies by Association of Translation and Interpreting-Turkey and studies, exercises and operations of Emergency and Disaster Interpreting representing Ankara since their inception in 2000 and 2001, respectively. Simultaneous Interpreting Laboratory at Hacettepe University is a unique one, the functions of which have been determined by Prof. Doğan. In addition to her chapters and articles published, she is the writer of two books, focusing on discourse analysis and interpreting.
Prof. Dr. Ebru DİRİKER (Boğaziçi University - TÜRKİYE)
Ebru Diriker is a Full Professor of Translation and Interpreting Studies at Boğaziçi University and Honorary Lecturer at the University of Manchester. She started Turkish Conference Interpreting courses at York University in Canada and lectures at Ottawa and York Universities. She is an accredited interpreter for the European Union, the Council of Europe and the courts of Ontario, Canada. Her publications include De-/Re-conceptualizing Conference Interpreting (John Benjamins, 2004) and Conference Interpreting (Scala, 2005), research articles and a book translation of 42nd Regiment: Gallipoli 1915 (Lindenbrooks, 2018). She serves on the editorial/advisory boards of Interpreting, The Interpreter & Translator Trainer, and Paralléles.
Prof. Dr. Mümtaz KAYA (Hacettepe University - TÜRKİYE)
Mümtaz Kaya is a Full Professor of Translation and Interpreting Studies at Hacettepe University. He has worked on audiovisual translation training, types of translation in the context of media accessibility, literary translations of Orhan Pamuk and Nedim Gürsel's works and Tintin cartoon series. From 1992 to 1998, Prof. Dr. Kaya worked at the Bilkent University School of Applied Foreign Languages, between 1998-2015, he worked as a faculty member at the Bilkent University, Department of Translation and Interpreting. Since 2015, Prof. Dr. Kaya has been working at Hacettepe University, Department of Translation and Interpreting Studies. Between September 2016 and June 2017, he conducted research on the translation of religious texts at the University of Sorbonne, France. Since 2017, Prof. Dr. Mümtaz Kaya has been working with RTÜK (Radio and Television Supreme Council), the Ministry of Family and Social Policies and different NGOs on Accessibility and Audiovisual Translation.
Prof. Dr. Necdet NEYDİM (Istanbul Üniversity - TÜRKİYE)
Prof. Dr. Necdet Neydim started his academic career in the Department of Translation and Interpreting (German) at the Faculty of Letters, Istanbul University in 2003. Between 2015 and 2022, he was the head of the Department of Comparative Literature at the same university. Necdet Neydim translated several works by Bertholt Brecht, Peter Haertling, Günter Grass, Erich Kaestner, and Erich Fried and the poems of Sarah Kirsch. His reviews and research articles on children's literature were published in various journals. He translated the works of German children's literature writers like Peter Haertling and Janosch besides those of Austrian children's literature writer Christine Nöstlinger. He prepared and presented a radio program called Djinn of the Lamp Children's Culture and Literature Program (October 2002–April 2003) on Open Radio in Istanbul. He is the founding president of ÇIKEDAD (Association of Researchers of Child and Adolescence Culture and Literature) and ÇAM (Child Research Center). He is one of the founders of the Child Rights Coalition and the Platform for the Prevention of Child Abuse. He is a member of the Translation Association and the Translators' Society of Turkey. Prof. Dr. Neydim retired from his academic position in 2022. He still serves as the editor-in-chief of an online journal titled Sözelti: Children and Youth Literature Review Research and Criticism Journal, which he founded together with his valuable teammates. He has short stories, novels, poems, and research books in the field of children's and youth literature.
Prof. Dr. Sündüz ÖZTÜRK KASAR (Galatasaray University - TÜRKİYE)
Sündüz Öztürk Kasar is a Full Prof. in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Department of Comparative Linguistics and Applied Foreign Languages, French Language and Literature at Galatasaray University since 2022. Between 1994 and 2022, she worked at Yıldız Technical University, Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Department of Western Languages and Literatures, French Translation and Interpreting. Prof. Dr. Öztürk Kasar has extensively published on Translation Studies with her major works on Semiotics of Translation and Linguistics. She has also published many books, book chapters, articles and delivered oral presentations in various countries on Translation Studies and Semiotics of Translation. Prof. Dr. Öztürk Kasar has translated many theoretical and literary works from prominent authors as diverse as Maurice Blanchot, Roland Barthes, Paul Ricœur, Honoré de Balzac and Claude Simon.
